Welcome to our running hub, designed to help every Garrycastle U16 Girl excel. Here, you'll find essential tips, workout plans, and the motivation needed to boost your fitness for championship football and your overall well-being. Let's run towards our goals together!

Our running program: consistency is key

To help us all build fitness and prepare for the demands of Championship football, we have a simple yet effective running program. We need every player to take responsibility for their own preparation. Follow these steps to get started:

  • Download the *Strava app*.
  • Complete 3 workouts per week.
  • Join the Garrycastle U16 Girls Strava group, and your workouts will sync automatically. (We will post a link or QR code to join the Strava group soon!)

Workout details: build your endurance

Our weekly workout is designed to build your cardiovascular fitness effectively. Here’s what you need to do:

Total distance: 4km

Consisting of: 4 x 1km intervals

Session format:

  • Run 1km at roughly 5.30 km/h pace - slow and controlled.
  • Rest for 1 minute (pause Strava during the recovery).
  • Repeat 4 times.

This simple but effective session will help us all get match-ready!
